To commemorate and celebrate the work to end gender-based violence, the Because of You community vigil was held on June 28, 2024, exactly two years after the 86 recommendations for change were released following the Culleton, Kuzyk, and Warmerdam inquest. The vigil included a community discussion, song, and speakers, including a speech from Anna Camilleri, artistic co-director of ReDefine Arts.

Join artist Anna Camilleri and the Watershed team in the Ottawa Valley for Carry Forward, two art-making workshops in which the art created will be brought to the June 28, 2024 Because of You community discussion and vigil.

This Is My Message to You is an interdisciplinary project led by Kathy Blomquist and Tristan R. Whiston that explores how life is remembered by a group of Barry’s Bay seniors and younger friends. Messages for friends, family, and anyone on life’s journey, take on the form of crafted poems, collages, short videos and a booklet.
