ReDefine Arts is launching the next three-year phase of the Countdown Public Art Project this summer in Killaloe, Golden Lake, Eganville, and surrounding areas. The Countdown Public Art Project is a community-driven initiative known for its pebble mosaic public artworks across Ontario, including installations in Combermere, Barry’s Bay, Killaloe, Eganville, Pikwakanagan First Nation, and Pembroke. The project invites all of us to imagine—and work toward—a world beyond violence.

Countdown began in 2016 in the Ottawa Valley and has since evolved into a community-powered public art initiative focused on creative collective-action to end gender-based violence and foster safer communities. Over the past decade, the project has engaged more than 5,000 participants through 125 community arts workshops and events, resulting in the creation of 13 large-scale and over 300 small pebble mosaic artworks in accessible public spaces across Ontario.

This next cycle of Countdown will begin this summer as ReDefine Arts partners with the Community Resource Centre – Killaloe and Ottawa Valley Community Arts, delivering a series of art workshops, outdoor concerts, and a mobile campaign traveling by foot, bike, paddle, and car.
