Writing Disability Futures is offered in conjunction with HELD, an immersive visual-tactile exhibition by Anna Camilleri and Wy Joung Kou, presented by Tangled Art + Disability, in partnership with ReDefine Arts from November 17, 2023 to January 26, 2024.

What sustainable futures can we co-create together? What visions for disability futures do you hold close or carry forward? In this creative writing workshop, we will write our own prose/poems led by these questions. We will also experiment with form and collective composition as a way of witnessing and holding space for each other.

The workshop will include at least one short break and will be supported by ASL interpretation and auto generated captions.

Anna Camilleri works across diverse media, including sculpture, installation, literature and performance. Her book works have been recognized with distinctions from the LAMBDA Literary Foundation, the Association of Independent Publishers, and the American Library of Congress. She is a 2023 TAC/TMU Leaders Lab fellow.

Wy Joung Kou’s body of work spans mosaic, sound, movement, percussion, video, and installation. Within these practices, they are most interested in co-creation, performance, and multi-sensory artwork. Kou was the inaugural recipient of the JRG Award for Artists with Disabilities in 2018 and has been a performing member of Raging Asian Womxn Taiko Drummers since 2020.
