Community Notice: Milestone Pebble Mosaic Restoration
Bleecker Parkette (149 Bleecker Street, Toronto) | October 5–7, 2026

The Milestone pebble mosaic in Bleecker Parkette has sustained damage in a recent incident and will undergo restoration from October 5–7, 2026, weather permitting.

Created by ReDefine Arts in 2017 with more than 200 Winchester Park and St. James Town community members, Milestone is a 12-foot-diameter public artwork celebrating community, dialogue, and our shared relationships to this place.

Created during Canada's 150th anniversary, the artwork invited participants to reflect on living on Turtle Island as Indigenous people, settlers, and newcomers. Together, community members created a permanent pebble mosaic that continues to welcome park visitors and reflect our neighbourhood.

ReDefine Arts will complete restoration work from October 5–7, 2026. During this time, the City of Toronto Parks and Recreation will install temporary protective barriers around the mosaic. The barriers will remain for approximately two weeks to allow the materials to cure without disturbance.

ReDefine Arts is covering the $4,000 cost to restore the mosaic. If you would like to help preserve Milestone for future generations, donations are gratefully appreciated: tr.ee/CUSqQO.

Thank you for your patience and for helping us protect this treasured community artwork.
